Researching the Honda Odyssey for purchase

Hi all,

I'll be in the market for a mini-van soon and I've narrowed down my choices to two, one of them is the Odyssey.

I'd like to know, how reliable the van is, what are the common problems with it, which year model is the most problematic, and would you buy the Odyssey again.

Thanks

Re: Researching the Honda Odyssey for purchase

99-04 have trans issues
05-06 have power steering issues & engine mount issues

Look into '05 and newer or get an extended warranty. We have a customer with an '02 and he is on his 4th transmission. Sad, sad, sad. That's not the only case, there are way to many out there like that. I would also stay away from the touring model.

Re: Researching the Honda Odyssey for purchase

I bought an 02 Odyssey and I cannot recommend the Odyssey to anyone. See my post on "Is it worth replacing the transmission on an Odyssey" in this forum. In my view, Odyssey problems are too serious and Honda does not stand by their products to the extent they should when inferior parts go bad.
