Pretty lame ass....
Reminds me of this guy at the local cruise spot who wrote "vtec This!" on his rear window of his camaro with shoe polish. Now, camaro's are ok, but when you do shit like that...your asking for it. People where throwing shit at him all night and yelling at him. Finally, a guy rolls up in a plain looking eg and starts talking to the dickhead in the camaro, and what do you know....a race is lined up about 10 mins later. Now I have no idea what the eg had, but the camaro jumped off the line well ahead of the civic, but by the end of the 1st block, the eg was steady pulling at least 8 car lengths on the chevy. By the end of the 2 block, it wasnt even a race anymore. Needless to say, no one saw the camaro again after that.

Then again, I see that same arrogance in the import community. Especially a lot of people who have B motors, or any Vtec motor for that matter. Almost like Vtec automatically makes you faster or something?
I dunno, I guess assholes are just assholes, no matter what they drive.

I have to agree that there is a lot of arrogance in the import community, but I think that it is more of an attitude of "I've done more to my car" than a redneck attitude of "mine is bigger". For some reason people in big engine cars just come off that way (the ones I've encountered, anyway) and import guys just want to show off their mods. Maybe I'm off center, but import guys bragging doesn't bug me as much...

i DO think that we can't have a double standard however. cuz otherwise we're worse then them, because we bitch about them makin fun of our cars, yet we make fun of theirs? its one thing to have confidence in ur car, an pride, but it is another to think it owns all. always gotta keep in mind that there is always someone faster. but...overall, u gotta respect wut the domestic V8's can do. its quite a sight to go to the track an see them light up the track an have their cam's rumbling so loud that they shake ur car. it gave me a whole new respect an view on them.

I respect anyone who earns it...
I respect Unique Cars I also respect the fact that motorsports started here in America. But you cannot dispute the fact that the Germans and most recently the Japanese perfected the art of motoring. Now you can see the Japanese influence in ALL cars, even American. Its quite obvious that the US manufacturers are struggling to catch up and get in on the "sport compact" market. But even the cars that they are marketing like the Focus Svt and the Neon Sr4t are very very heavy on Japanese flavor. Sorry guys, but your a day late and a $ short. Make that 10years late. Even at the track, where you see these monster V8's doing amazing things, the Influence is also dominant. Who wuddu thunk that a car would run better with proper fuel management, aluminum engine components and things such as turbo....hmmm... Whether they like it or not, even the guys in the ford/chevy/gm camp are running "jap crap". In one form or another. I just think its funny that even after biting all this technology, they still brand All Japanese Cars as Crappy econo boxes. It would be nice to see a side by side comparison of completely stock "american" cars versus some of the cars that we're not cool enough to get....ie- Silvia,Skyline, Civic Type R. Who the hell would spend 40k on a Mustang when you could buy a Skyline? Its all about Respect.....and I grab some whenever I can, especially at the expense of a ignorant redneck.

You make it sound like American engineers never used things such as aluminum components before... and turbo's and a fuel management system. For instance the '67-'69 L-88 427ci Big Block. Came from the factory with Aluminum intake and Heads. Why wasnt it produced more? Wasn't cost effective. Lets not forget the ZL1 '69 Camaro, All aluminum 427ci Big Block. True only 69 Camaro's we built with this option (and 2 Corvettes) but it was still an option. It was rated at 430hp, but actually made near 500hp. With headers and slicks the car could run 11s all day. It also came with a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty. Yet another marvel of the 60's. The '65 Ford 427 Cammer. Without a doubt the most powerful engine ever made, the Ford 427 Cammer was developed with the intention of taking on Chrysler's Hemis. Ford gave the 427 block new heads with hemispherical combustion chambers. To cap that, they fitted overhead camshafts -- one per cylinder bank -- which gave the engine its name and allowed it to rev to an unheard of 7,500 rpm. With the regular single four barrel carb, the "cammer" put out 616 bhp, but with dual four-barrels, it produced a massive 657 bhp. With this kind of power, the "cammer" 427 was totally unsuitable for street use. These engines were not sold to the general public, but about 50 examples were built, mostly for professional drag racers. Because of the low production volumes, NASCAR refused to accept the engine as a regular production option, and thus Ford couldn't use the engine to combat the Hemi's. This sealed this engine's fate and Ford discontinued it after 1965. Don't forget Chevy had Fuel Injection with the '57 Corvette. The 'Fuelie' 283ci made 283bhp. Being the first motor to make 1hp per cubic inch. That was a record back in '57. This motor combined with the Borg-Warner T-10 4spd tranny could rocket the Vette to Low 14's in the quarter and under 6 seconds in the 0-60mph. Pretty Sweet for a car thats close to 50 years old. I dont think you can accurately say the American Engineers never knew about lighter materials or some of the trick things we've got at our disposal now... but during the hayday it wasnt cost effective. Things are slowly starting to change though, for instance the LS1/LS6 are both all aluminum motors. Ford has their 'modular' motors. And Chyrsler has brought back the Hemi. All three motors are close to perfection, they just achieve it from different angles. Oh, And I resent the Ignorant Redneck remarks. :finger: :silly2:

No pun intended, Cletus.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but you have to agree that most of our Domestic cars nowadays are pure crap. No one cares about workmanship anymore, its just about the bottom line. I love old Muscle cars, no doubt. But what the hell have we been doing for the last 30 years? That was the point I was trying to illustrate. While we were snoozing, the Japanese ran away with the market.
