Ebay Wheel Hubs

Anyone have any experience?

You can get 2 front hubs for a 97 k1500 4x4 for less than the price of 1 hub at oreilley's. The ebay ones even come with a 1-yr warrenty same as oreilleys.

Just wonder if there is a reason they are so cheap.

The pickup is pulsing the ABS at low speeds and it needs to be fixed before the next major snow fall or I wont hear the end of it. I was catching hell today for draggin my feet on getting this pickup ABS fixed because of the damn snow we just got.

I found the TSB about removing and cleaning the sensors. Did both, no change.

Thanks for any input.

What brand hubs?

When replacing wheel bearing hub I go for a good brand first and then check price.

If just ABS wheel sensors acting up check wiring and see if your sensore come seperate from hub assembley.

not sure with your model , but most on these gm 1990's vehicles do remove the abs fuse..this will prevent the abs from coming on ..you therefore will be able to stop..

rotating the hubs measure the voltage coming out..not sure exactly with your set up.... my 2000 siL is .4volts or more ac with the hub rotated by hand fairly fast..

if the bearing is failing this can lower the output to cause this ..

because you have no issues at higher speeds above 5 MPH it would go to the hub / rust pushing the sensor farther away from the gear teeth..

Re: Ebay Wheel Hubs

The wiring to the sensors is fine. In fact the passenger side hub has been swapped out before I got the truck to a Timken brand.

I do not know the brand of the ebay ones. Just thought 40 bucks may be worth a shot rather than 170.00. Even if it only lasts one year.

with the voltage tests I suggested you should be able to figure this out..my 2000 silverado had these issues the voltmeter showed low ac volts on the sensor output...I filed down the mounting surface to shinny smooth metal and the voltage got up to almost .5volts ac..then no more loss of braking due to the abs activating..

1AAUTO has these I believe ,and they have 2 yr warrantee ..so far I have had no problems..

Unless they are a good brand you can spend more time changing/replacing them over and over than you would gain on the cost of good ones.

But if your ABS is kicking in and out you need to work on and check speed sensors and wiring to fix that problem.

Re: Ebay Wheel Hubs

Thanks guys, I will do what I can. The weather in MN is super cold right now. But for sure before I order I will measure the voltage.
