printable 1/24 scale road surfaces?
Does anyone have - or know where to find - some graphic files with road surfaces in 1/24 (or similar) scale?
I'm looking for some old(ish) tarmac road to use as a base. Many thanks for any help S

Re: printable 1/24 scale road surfaces?
I'm given to think that even if you did have a perfect image file of a properly weathered stretch of pavement, that actually printing it out would probably ruin the appearance. To my eye even of the colors and markings were spot on, tarmac just doesn't look like printed paper.
![]() Get yourself a piece of plywood. Glue to it a sheet of medium grit sandpaper. Paint it, mark it, weather it. I made this base by taking a 2' x 2' piece of plywood, covering it with white glue, sprinkling it with model railroad ballast, and painting it. Even in 1/24, pavement has texture that a printer just can't replicate.

i don't know about printable surfaces, for this base i used some texture spray (can)...later i painted it over with mist of dark grey to simulate ashphalt
lookin the tutorials thread, there is one about making a realistic road surfaces edit: here's link http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=209632

Re: printable 1/24 scale road surfaces?
there is also a material that comes in bottles that model makers use to replicate concrete and tarmac.
absolutely no help as I can't for the life of me remember what it's called...

Re: printable 1/24 scale road surfaces?
Thanks for the input guys - all of it was useful (well, except DM's maybe
) and inspired me to keep looking and think differently.Andy, I tend to agree with you 100% although I was recently inspired by some of Scale Productions printed display case inserts which look simple awesome. For what I need this time round and with the time I have available, a printed insert will probably meet my needs best I think. But we'll see ![]() Thanks again guys for your feedback

Re: printable 1/24 scale road surfaces?
grrr...
this stuff. there is as i said, a tarmac/ashpalt type as well. Instructions say to use over their smooth-it it's what railway guys use in their scenes/settings/dioramas as you could probably tell from the US store that I found that stocks it.
