Question Name this (cooling system) piece

Ok... I don't have a picture of it, but I don't think it's that hard to describe:

Car: '98 Grand Prix SE 3.8L
Part: The metal pieces that are inserted (w/ o-rings) into the belt tensioner assembly, where the heater hoses are connected. Not talking about the plastic elbow, but the metal, straight, held-in-place-with-an-m8-screw adapters.

One of them refuses to let go of the old belt tensioner and it's slightly damaged already, so I'd like to replace it instead of keep fighting with it... but I can't find these things anywhere -specially since I don't know the specific term to look for, nor a part number-

Any help is welcomed...

Re: Name this (cooling system) piece

Hello Oscar,

That's the part I'm replacing ("belt tensioner assembly"), but I'm stuck because the metal fittings where the heater hoses are connected are in bad shape...

I managed to take both connectors out already, but with the pitting due to the corrosion I'd rather get new parts. But where can I find those?

Re: Name this (cooling system) piece

they are called heater inlet and outlet pipe adapters, GM part # 24503269. They include the o-ring and retail for $11.22 at any GM dealership. I do not know if anyone makes them aftermarket, but you may be able to use the GM # to cross reference at a local auto parts store, or just get them from the dealer since they're not too expensive.

Re: Name this (cooling system) piece

Thank you Richtazz,

I had to put together the car last night using the old "pipe adapters" and at this point it looks like there are no leaks, but if I have to replace them in the near future at least I'll know what to look for

Thanks!

BTW: as a reference, I took the stuck adapter out very "gently": cut slots around the place where the adapter is inserted on the old tensioner (which I was replacing), and used a chisel and hammer to break the casting. The cuts were deep but not deep enough to go anywhere near the old adapter, just enough to give the chisel a place to bite and weak points for the casting to break. After looking at the adapter i confirmed there was no way this thing was going to get out of that hole without some "gentle" coercion.
