Ferrari 308 barn find

Revell's 'Magnum P.I.' Ferrari 308 GTS. This one's from the 80's, the show may have still been on when it was built. Simply put it hasn't been dusted in a bit. Just a quick cleanup wip.
First from the shelf.

Any ideas on removing the awesome white lettering from the tires?
That is without melting the vinyl...

Depends on what it was painted with but I would start with a cotton bud dipped in rubbing alcohol or Mr Muscle window cleaner. They should be safe to the vinyl and remove any acrylic based paint.

Scraping off with a chiselled toothpick might also get the job done

For acryllics I use Nail Polish remover on either a cotton Swab or a cotton pad, the ones women use for gettting off makeup

Re: Ferrari 308 barn find

Speaking of cotton swabs...
Half of the car has been given the once over with a damp cotton swab(s).
The tire lettering came off with a brisk scrubbing with a tooth pick.

It's still on in the above shots though.
And thanks for the tips!

Re: Ferrari 308 barn find

I would've left it in this state, and made small messages with a small brush. Saying stuff like wash me!! Cool.

Another run with the swabs...
There seems to be a little shine under all that crud.

Brushes and cruddy swabs, elbow grease not included.

Re: Ferrari 308 barn find

Some plastic polish for the 'glass' and Scratch-X for the shiney parts.

Not much of a build, I know. I can't start another full project untill next year though. I've been thinking of building a 'then and now' version. I'm not sure what extras and updates i want to add just yet though.

Thanks. It's held up pretty well.
