Power steering problem
Over the last weekend my power steering pump froze, has anyone else had a problem with the after market ps units? Is anyone running something other than the standard Ford or after market ps pump?

Re: Power steering problem
Mine still has the Ford unit it came with. I lengthened the fill tube as is done on the GTS's. I also flushed out the system when my rack was replaced due to a seal and filled it with Royal Purple synthetic. Seems to work great, quiet as well.

Re: Power steering problem
There are lots of "crappy" rebuilt pumps that don't hold up. We only use brand new ones from Ford......3x cost but never a DNF.
You might take your pump to the dealer to match and price a new (not rebuilt) unit.....or try for a high end rebuilt (hard to find). Add the hose top extender like the GTS to get some more fluid and room to expand. Kevin |
