Midlife crisis?
Alright - the day has come.
I'm almost 24 and about to go through a midlife crisis i think. Not because I'm gonna turn 24, but because, in about 4 hours, my car is gonna hit 6 digits on the odometer. I've had this car since there were 7 miles on it, so I feel like i've watched it grow up, and now it's about to start it's gradual decline to its ultimate demise. Perhaps those of you who have passed the 100k mark on a car you bought new have felt this feeling. Much like I imagine a person feels when they hit the big 4-0. How do you cope with it? Perhaps I'm overly empathetic toward my car, but hey - when you share 7 yrs - almost a third of your life - with a machine that's been so great to you, you can't help but feel attached to it. Its an extension of yourself. I don't know what the actual purpose of this post is - maybe the moral support from people who love their cars as much as I love mine? Or perhaps i'm overreacting? |

I bought my civic on december 14th 2002 and it came with 76,000 miles on it.. Now its at 87,217. I got SO upset when it hit 80,000.. I cant imagine at 100,000! I will seriously cry.. its like the 100,000 seems kinda high but I saw this girl with my EXACT same civic with 267,000 miles on it and she said its running perfectly except for a blown amp (her fault) My friends tell me "ITS A HONDA! IT WILL LAST FOREVER!"

is it me or did my car come with low milage for a 92? came with 76,000... is that why it HAS NOT BROKEN or given me shit yet? I had all belts replaced and brakes redone just to make sure though.. and all fluids I keep changing constantly. This car was owned by a priest also hehe

my grandpas accord hit like 250k and it was still runnning good, but they got something newer, and my acura had like 105k ran perfect, my hatch has like 125k i think but not the stock engine so cant tell ya, but my 95 ford 3.8 with 113k still runs pretty good, but it is an auto and that thing is falling apart, my grandpas auto in their new taurus just took a shit. I dont know if it is the same as in my car(mustang) but I am sick of ford now, I wont ever own another I dont think. unless I can afford the GT40 someday

I kind of feel you, I had my 92 since 95. I bought it with 25,000 miles on it, it was a virgin, nothing done to it at all. I looked like it just came off the showroom floor. The milage thing really doesn't bother me any more. I have had such a good relationship with my car, and I can fix anything that goes wrong with it. The chassis has about 175,000 on it, and the motor has about 40,000. No big deal. i really wouldn't worry about it, you have a great car built by a great manufacturer. you will have many more years to come, trust me.

Sorry to dig this back up outta the cobweb covered box that is any AF post that's older than 2 weeks, but just wanted to say -
Its over- the car is now past 100k, (100,854 to be exact), and i made it through - Thanks for all the emotional support Now, should I start sweating 200k?
