I put the car in the shop on tuesday morning, get a 2003 grand am to drive around til probably a week when i get it back fuckin fast shit
anyway, there doing the whole rust removal and welding on metal, then painting all the parts with rust on them. so it'll be looking as close to new as i can get it. probably dropping 2500 canadian for it, so a little less than 2 grand american. I'm fuckin excited to get it back
anyway, here are the shots with the rust, the before pictures, forsure the after pictures will be up in a week or so.:jumpie:

ha, sorry, i don't have a scanner, just a web cam, so i had to take pictures of the pictures i took with my normal still cam.
in canada i might be able to possibly find 2 crxs at a grand each, but they would be in serious shit condition, my crx is in near perfect mechanical condition, one owner, well maint.

i really love it and i do think long and hard before sinking that kind of money into it. but i think its worth it, once i have the engine swap done as well, it will put some serious life back into that car.

Exactly, I would wait and get the whole car resprayed. With a 10+ year old paint job, and fresh paint... certain angles will look funny because you will be able to tell where it was repainted - trust me.

I know its not close, but the Kingston Ontario MAACO does awesome paint jobs for the money, they run under $300 canadian for a respray. They used to have a special of 5 hours body work plus respray for what would be like $700 canadian... replacing both side quarters should be a 5 hour job... plus the WHOLE car is resprayed. Might be worth the trip if you are paying 3 times that and only getting some of the car repainted. Give them a call...

Yup, all you have to do is let them know you are interested in a decent paint job unlike regular people who just want to like cover up old paint blah blah blah. Ask to see a few cars they have done, and get the guy that did those to do yours. Even with clear coating its a hell of a deal for a daily driven car. IMO its stupid to be spending 2 grand on body/paint if its not going to be a show car. I mean even if you went all out at MAACO youd be hard pressed to spend $1000 canadian there. Just think, thats all money that can go towards your swap.

And I guarentee you will be equally as happy when you have a swap and paint - instead of just paint.

I could get work done here, but im headed 130 miles to the great white north to have the Kingston facility do my body work/paint - it comes highly recommended by me. Theres even a MAACO thats 1/2 the distance from me, but ive personally seen this other places work and let me tell you... them canadians hook yah up nice!

the only parts the place i'm workin with isn't painting are the roof, the hood, the bumpers, and one of the front fenders. the car was in an accident recently and you can tell those were all painted already. so it should match up well
i'm doing the engine swap this summer, probnably a zc
