Exclamation M-Speed

HEY GUYS, IM NEW TO THE FORUM, LIVE IN FLORIDA, AND I OWN A SPEED SHOP IN SOUTH FLORIDA, BOCA RATON, ITS CALLED NFS AUTO ACCESSORIES, I WENT TO MAZDA DEALER TODAY AND I TESTED THE NEW MAZDASPEED, AND I ALSO TESTED THE SPEC-V, NISSAN'S R GREAT CARS NO QUESTION, BUT THINK ABOUT IT THIS WAY, WHY WOULD YOU PAY CLOSE TO 20 THOUSAND FOR A SPEC-V AND EXTRA 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO TURBO IT, (CUZ U WONT GET IT FOR CHEAPER IM IN THE BUSINESS AND I KNOW) WHEN YOU CAN GET IT IN THE MAZDASPEED, FOR UNDER 21K, ITS 20,500 TO BE EXACT, AND STOCK TO STOCK, MAZDASPEED VS. SPEC-V. MAZDA IS FASTER IN 0-60 AND FASTER IN QUARTERMILE, QUARTERMILE MAZDASPEED DOES IT IN 14.5 - 14.9 DEPENDS ON DRIVING, WHILE SPEC-V DOES IT IN 15-5-16 DEPENDING ON DRIVING TOO, SO HEY GUYS YEAH ITS 170HP AND SOUNDS LIKE A LITTLE MOTOR, BUT ITS A GREAT CAR AND GREAT POWER FOR THE MONEY, BESIDES ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND, ITS NOT HOW BIG THE MOTOR IS, ITS HOW THE ENGINEERING IS, LOOK AT THE PORSCHE 911 AND KEEP IN MIND THAT ITS ONLY A 6 CYLENDER MOTOR AND HEY, ITS BAD ASS.

The MSP is faster but put a turbo inside my SPEC and you got yourself a MUCH FASTER CAR THAN A MSP. I love the MSP and if I had to get a another car I would get the MSP. I paid close to 19K for my SPEC V and add that 4K for that turbo comes to be 23K in total like you said. so its really just saying that I paid only $2000 more for a car that will have 250whp. against a car that only produces about the same #'s as a SPEC at the wheels. which is about 141-146whp. so if you want to really go faster its really better to just buy a SPEC V only if you have really good patience untill a good turbo comes out for it.

Except you can take that extra 2000, put it into the protege in the form of boost controller, front mounted intercooler, Greddy Emanage, and possible a T3/T4 turbo, and your at atleast 250. Not to mention the Nissan will never be able to handle like the MSP can off the showroom floor. Just some food for thought for all you Nissan lovers out there.

Just thought I'd put my opinion in since I'm an owner of the Mazdaspeed Protege. The MSP is a great car and I've not had any real gripes about it. The performance you get out of the showroom floor is a real steal. Not only that you get a rockin' stereo system. A pretty good bargain considering all the goodies it comes with right out of the box.

I've taken the car autocrossing several times and the car handles great! The suspension work is tight and the 170hp is adequate for autocrossing or zipping around town. Now if you're looking to beat a Corvette off the line then the MSP is not that car. However if you want an agile and zippy compact sedan, the MSP is it.

One other thing I've seen in some of the forums is the complaint that the MSP's intercooler is mounted vertically instead of horizontally. I'm not sure why this is such a big complaint since a horizontally mounted intercooler will not expose the fins to airflow as well as a vertically mounted one will unless there's a ram air scoop to direct the flow into the horizontally mounted intercooler (ie. WRX hood scoop). If you look at the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8, you'll see that the intercooler is mounted vertically, which leads to a much more elegant hood scoop.

The Nissan SE-R Spec V is a good car and I considered it before purchasing the MSP. If you can't afford the $20,500 MSP, the Spec V is a cheaper alternative. If you can shell the $20,500 for the MSP, choose it over the Spec V.

The WRX's intercooler is mounted on top of the engine. What I'm talking about is buying a new intercooler to mount horizontally behind the front air dam, where it will get 100 times more air than it is now. With this location, there is no need for a hood scoop.
