02 gl wont start

i have an 02 olds gl some times it wont start i have to get it jump start i took it to auto zone the battery good new in may alt 13 14 amps starter ok it strange thank you al

From the sound of it Im assuming you mean that it wont crank as opposed to it wont start? There is a difference.

Wont crank means you turn the key and nothing happens, you might hear a relay click or something but other than that theres no activity under the hood.

Wont start means the engine is turning over, but will not start and run.

So with that said.

How did you determine the starter was good? They can act up intermittently just like youre describing.

The ignition can cause similar symptoms to a dead battery, what does your dash look like when it acts up? Lots of lights or just a couple? Do you hear any clicking noises or anything like that when its acting up? Or total silence?

Yeah I agree.

I still think that sometimes the connections simply get dirty/corroded, because I was having similar problems a couple years ago and I simply pulled my switch and cleaned the connections as best I could and havent had a problem since.

Granted, I also disabled my Security system somewhere during that time period, so in all reality I probably need a new ignition switch, but all I know is that when I turn the key it starts, every time, and has for the last several years, which is all I care about

I did a write up long ago on how to remove it, but I think krivasauto has since done one with pictures and such which blows mine away.

Check for voltage at the battery when attempting to crank, if the voltage remains high (11-13V), check for voltage at the primary wires of the starter. If you have voltage at the starter, but it does not crank, the starter or ground to the engine block is the issue.
