compression question
Hello all. I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with the N/A 3800 SII engine. When I turn the engine off, I always hear a noise, it sounds like compression being released from a cylinder. It is not very noticible, but I was wondering if this is normal. The car has done it for as long as I have had it (about a year) and it runs great. I just wanted to make sure this is not an indication of something about to go wrong.

The sound you are getting is normal. The evaporative emmissions system purge valve working. I get the same noise from my '99 Regal LS with the NA 3800 engine when shutting the engine off.
