I recently purchased a car with 18" factory BBS RX wheels. In two months of driving (non-aggressive) the passenger's front wheel bent in hitting a pot hole and last week the driver's side front wheel actually cracked (the lip), precluding repair.
Anyone had a similar experience? I replaced the wheels this week with 17" BBS RX wheels I found at an excellent price, in hopes of reducing the incidence. I wrote to BBS, and they, as is typical, said take it up with your dealership, not our problem. Thanks.

In speaking with various customers who have broken or bent rims because of road hazards, we haven't seen anything unusual with BBS wheels.
Whenever you go 18, the wheel will be at risk because of the lower profile tires. The best thing to do to protect the rims is to run at little bit higher air pressure, maybe + or - 3 to 5 depending on your tolerance for a tighter ride as this will help cushion the wheel against impacts. |
