I think your Math is very off, you can't even get an APC short shifter for $28 around here. Plus I highly doubt AUD is worth more than USD seeing as I'm pretty sure the US has the more valuable money. Unless parts over there just cost less which is possible also. But in the US they rip you a new asshole everytime you try and buy a JDM part.

$72 for shift knob

I don't even want to know what the shifter it self costs.

last time i checked the aussie doall was going for a bit over 60us cents.

Do the math. Works out unless i punched it into the calculator wrong.

You are right the shifter is usually about $100 here but he needed the cash and not many people have the 88 - 91 civic here so i gave him $48...

Installation will prob be more then the shifter lol

AUD is worth less than USD that's why it's cheaper in USD.

USD = $28.80
AUD = $48.00

$1 AUD = $0.65 USD (roughly), or
$1 USD = $1.65 AUD

Which is why you multiply AUD by 0.6 (0.65) to get USD conversion.

There are a lot of cheap short shifters out there.......
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2416000347

However I'd be a bit sceptical about these as there are some horror stories of some snapping Known brands like B&M are a safe bet.

Does not look that difficult to change the shifter, here is a how to.....

LOL - someone got their nose out of joint 'cause stuff is cheaper over here.

Bottom line is that we live in the Pacific along with Japan (cheaper to import) and our cost of living is cheaper than the U.S. Car parts are quite cheap - I've been watching you guys sprout how much you pay for a lot of stuff over the years and I cringe.

Prices seem right to me based on what I have looked at, although I havent needed a short shifter - mine came in the car Mugen knob seems a tad cheap, but you can always bargain something down or pick up on unmoved stock at a sale.

Nice pick man!

I think the talk of currency conversion is totally pointless, and doesn't apply in the Jdm Parts debate.

You can't compare fair market value of say...a Mugen knob, because for all intents and purposes, Mugen doesn't exist in America. Well, except for King Motorsports, but those guys are Jdm Nazi's and charge a grip for anything remotely Jdm.

Point is, its worth whatever your willing to pay for it.

Case in point...I recently found a 4g OEM armrest in a salvage yard, and bought it for $4. I listed it on ebay starting at $1, and at auction end it sold for $157. I wasn't being greedy, because 27 different users bid on it, and thats what it was worth to the guy who won it. I was happy to make a 1 billion % profit, and this guy was happy he had an armrest. Hehe

Most people would say..."Thats ridiculous, its just a piece of plastic". Well yes, it wasnt important to me, so I sold it. But I have been going throught the same BS looking for 4g OEM foglights, so I understand all too well.
