1990 Astro Van Alternator

I have a 1990 chevy astro van 4.3L I am trying to remove the alternator but having major problems. I was able to unbolt all the screws the problem is I don't seem to be able to disconnect the wires from the back of it thus can't get the darn thing out. Is their another way to get to the back of it besides the feel approach? Any suggestions for this lady would be much appreciate.
Ashley

Re: 1990 Astro Van Alternator

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery before starting the job. The through bolt, (pivot bolt) is probably a 13mm bolt about 6" long located at the 6:00 position. The lock bolt that holds the alternator in place is located at the 10:00 position, also a 13mm bolt. Both are accessible from the front. There are two electrical connectors: one plugs in and the other is attached with a nut.
