91 hatch si fuel pump cover and hard line not connected? no fuel tank pressure? is that bad

while replacing my fuel pump the other day i noticed that the hard line that goes into the top of the fuel pump cover on top of the gas tank is not connected anymore the hard line will just spin and move around as far as the hose will let it and thus my gas tank doesnt have that woosh when you take off the fuel cap, now my question is could this make the car run any different than it should? and how can i fix this problem would rtv or jb weld work? and since i have a si do i need any other wiring other than a conversion harness to obd1 for vtec and knock sensor,ecu, etc for a b16a to run in the car?

What I get from your explanation is this: the elbow where the fuel line connects is spinning? the only problem you see from it so far is your not get any built up pressure in the tank? its not really that bad of a thing, just prevents your emission components from working exactly like they are supposed to, luckily we have older cars and it doesn't cause that big of an issue. I currently don't even have my emission stuff on my car.

But your not having issues with the engine getting fuel so its not actually leaking, correct?

As for the wiring, you still have some wiring to do as your engine doesn't have VTEC or a knock sensor, so there will be some minor wiring you have to do. A conversion kit usually only comes with the plugs at the ECU to convert it over, some come with extra wire for the things you need to wire up, but you still have to wire them up yourself unless you send your harness in and have them do it.

no major problems running, the car does puff some whitish blue smoke over 4,000 rmps but is running straight pipe to skunk 2 canister but sometimes the car hesitates a little then picks up after a second and today i was coming around a corner and went to hit the gas and nothing happened for about 5 seconds then it kicked and took off, but could any of that have anything to do with the fuel tank the the hard line spinning in the top of the fuel pump cover? also it does smell like gas everyonce in awhile and couldnt my gas be slowly evaporating out of the tank?

Yes your gas slowly evaporates, doesn't matter if it has the leak or not, thats the point of the emission stuff. The vapors get trapped in the charcoal canister and when its the right time, the purge solenoid opens and dumps the vapors into the intake.

The problems could be caused by it. my advice is just got to junk yard and get that piece, shouldn't be that hard to come by.

could i just jb weld it back together or silicone it? would it potentially hurt anything?

Seriously if your going through the trouble of dropping it again, just go get another plate. Most junk yards that dismantle cars pull the tanks and toss them in the car so its easy to get.

dont have to drop the tank completely tho it would be much easier for now to drop it a few inches and run a bead of silicone all the way around then to pull the whole tank out and remove the fuel pump, sooner or later its getting a fuel cell anyway not really wanting to spend more money on this then i have too

You would probably get out of the yard with it for free or a few bucks. Trust me, slapping a band aid on some situations isn't worth the effort when weighed against doing it the right way.

If it was me, i would just go get a new piece from the yard and replace it and be done with it. Even with the plan of putting a fuel cell in it, because until you do it, plan like your not going to do it, cause until its actually done, its just a thought in your head.

This is coming from the worse person about making plans for his car and not actually doing any of it...mostly cause I haven't ever had the money to do what I want to the car.
