Will this do anything at all?

I was just looking around ebay for my '93 Cavalier sedan and I found THIS Will this show any gain at all?

Another thing, my exhaust is getting louder. Anything I should look for? I will check if there are any leaks if the pipes or whatever, and the muffler looks good. Thanks

I can tell you this, for $18 bucks(or whatever its up to now... probably still $18 since I dont know how many people would bid on that), it wont add 20 HP. A $200 exhaust doesnt even add that much. I dont know much about the performance chips, I know they do help, but I doubt it would help as much as they say it will. Notice they say, UP TO 20 HP. I wish I could buy a 20 dollar chip to add 20 HP to my 2000 Cavalier Just doesnt usually work that way. Id say go with intake and exhaust if your looking for that extra boost in HP.

these things are a subjective gain, so on a big engine like a 350, it'll have larger gains than in our 2.2, it's a percentage, and you better off getting a free flow filter for the stock airbox than buying one of these.

It's just a resistor that you put in place of the IAT.... and you're right it doesn't work, in fact it's probably bad for the car.

As for your exhaust, if you still have the stock muffler(like I do) I noticed that the entire exhaust system is stainless steel... except the end caps of the muffler. So I developed pinholes at the bottom of the endcaps on both sides of the muffler, where water usually collects anyways.

In my case, I liked the sound, so I just let them sit there and rust into bigger holes... but that's just me.

Ok thanks for the replies, I didn't think it was that easy or cheap. I don't care that much about the sound but I just got my emission test notice. And the previous owner said that it failed the test but she didn't do anything about it since she was selling it to me. But I know her and she barely ever drove it - only 20K miles on the car.

But I was thinking of getting some fuel injection cleaner and taking it for a drive on the expressway. Will that help me to pass? Thanks

Just be carefull in what you get. It could be a 2 cent resistor that they charge you $20 for it.
