Pass-Key II Bypass Wire Color Codes

OK, so I decided to start installing a remote starter on my new Silhouette tonight. I ordered the parts the other day and they arrived in my mail. I picked up an Avital 4113 Remote Starter and a DEI 555G Pass-Key 3 bypass module.

I have the remote start in and working perfectly as long as I have the key in the ignition. Now I am down to wiring in the 555G bypass module. I cannot for the life of me find the wiring colors I need to complete the install. I have the cover removed off of the steering column and I can see the transponder ring with the 5 wires running out of it. There are (2) purple wires, a black/white wire, a pink, & an orange wire. I am trying to determine which one is the Data line and which one is the ignition wire. I need to cut the ignition wire in half and I don't feel like cutting the wrong one by accident! Also, I need to confirm that the Key Sense wire is the light green one.

Can anyone help me out with the right color codes? I have spent the last hour looking and can't find it. I don't really want to mess with the transponder ring bypass modules, I have used them in the past and it was a royal pain to get it just right. I wanted to use this since the module learns my key code and I should be good to go. Thanks for reading!

Re: Pass-Key II Bypass Wire Color Codes

OK, so I ended up finally finding a post about a Buick Rendezvous and I found the color codes for the Pass-Key III in it.

Purple = Data
Pink = Ignition (Cut this wire)
Lt. Green = Key Sense

So, now my remote starter is in and works perfectly! I do have one last little issue that is more of an annoyance than anything.

When I lock the doors via the factory key fob, and then remote start it, the horn honks once before starting. If I do not lock the doors, it does not honk during a remote start. Is this due to the fact that the factory arm/disarm wires are not connected to the remote start brain? If I hook them up, will the horn honk stop? Thanks!

Re: Pass-Key II Bypass Wire Color Codes

I'm interested. I helped a buddy install a remote start in his chevy safari a few years back but that unit was junk and mucked up the security system on the van.

this unit looks pretty good from what I can read. It does mention in the adds I read that there is an optional horn beep setting on start-up. Maybe you missed that in the manual?

Did you use the 4113 or 4113L model?

Is the remote button small enough inside the case so that I might consider stuffing it into the existing remote unlock key fob case? It seems awkward to have two key fobs for the car.

Re: Pass-Key II Bypass Wire Color Codes

That is a good thought, but I didn't hook up the horn wire when I installed it. On another car alarm/remote starter forum I was told that it is caused by the factory alarm and that I should connect the factory arm/disarm wires up to resolve it.

I am now not sure if I want to fix it though. I never could tell if my old car started up when I was in the house, but the short horn blast always lets me know it's going on this one!

As for the model, I used the 4113. It has a "smaller" single button fob, but by no means small enough to fit inside a stock remote. I chose this one because I didn't plan on implementing door lock/unlock etc. I just wanted it to start the van only. It also has a virtual tach setting, so no more running a tach wire under the hood either! So far it seems like a nice stable unit if you are looking to use one. Make sure to get the DEI 555G Passkey III bypass module too.
