how accurate is kbb gas mileage listing?

I've used Kelly Blue Book to get ideas on the cash value for various vehicles for awhile, but have just now noticed the gas mileage listings on kbb. Are these listings usually relatively close to what i can expect from a helthy vehicle? Obviously there would be a lot of variables like the way i drive and the options i have (like tje size of the motor), but how close is it?

Re: how accurate is kbb gas mileage listing?

I think these ratings are most useful for comparison purposes. If they show one vehicle gets slightly better mileage on paper, you should expect the same results in the real world, when used under similar conditions.

But you should not expect the same actual mileage... real world mileage is typically lower.

But of course if your mileage is a LOT lower, there may be a reason for it such as a mechanical or electronic problem.
