Is it safe??

I want to paint one of my models a fluorescent pink colour but the problem is that Tamiya pink looks horrible. Is it safe to spray Tamiya primer onto the model then use a different brand of paint for the pink colour? I have heard that you shouldnt mix brands of paint and primer but what are the reasons for this? I dont want to ruin my model.

I've found that Tamiya primer is suitable for most types of paint including lacquers; as always, experiment on spare plastic first then see the results before proceeding.

Tamiya primer is lacquer based, so enamel or water soluble acrylic shouldn't dissolve the primer. Check the type of paint, or experiment first.

Some times it will work to mix them. Cuz I've used Walmart brand primer and the Rustolm red and it worked fine, almost the best job i have here done!

I've used Tamiya primer under Duplicolour paints with no problems.
