Coolant leak.

Have coolant leaking from front of engine. Replaced water pump, and

is still leaking. Any ideas?

Re: Coolant leak.

Go to Autozone and borrow the Radiator pressure tester. It is a hand held tire pump with a radiator cap on it. They usually loan them for free. When your engine is off and cool, remove your radiator cap and attach the pump, then pump it to the pressure rating of the original cap. The source of your leak should be visibly obvious.

Re: Coolant leak.

you don't say what engine you have but if it is a 4.3 I would bet on the intake manifold.Once you get the pressure tester take a look at the corners of the intake. they can leak down the front of the block and look like a waterpump leak.

Re: Coolant leak.

i agree with the lower manifold gasket. it leaks, just above the water pump. plan a weekend to do it, if ya wanna do it yourself, and do it right (on the 4.3L)...

Re: Coolant leak.

Thanks guys, it is a 97 Jimmy with a 4.3 engine. I'll borrow a tester

and see if I can tell if it is the manifold gasket.
