No Start, Remote Start Bypass

Hello all,

I had the no start problem in my 2001 3.5 Intriuge. After doing alot of reading on here and talking to many other people, I decided to install a remote start to try to bypass the ignition cylinder problems. All went well with installing the remote start, but shortly after I installed it I was trying to start it with the key and had the no start issue. Me thinking I was all badass, said "I will win this time". I pulled the key out of the ignition and hit the start button on the remote start. To my surprise Intriuge won again. All the gauges and lights came on as normal, but as soon as it should have fired there was nothing. It tried to cycle about three more times before giving up. Then of coarse I sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes cursing this car before it finally started up and got me home. So, as much as I would love to go drop this car off in a used car lot somewhere and drive out in a "new problem waiting to happen", I first would like to see if anyone on here has any advise as to whether there is somthing else I need to do to get the remote start to work all the time. Thanks for any help guys.

Re: No Start, Remote Start Bypass

I'd start by checking applicable fuses for the starter circuit, if you haven't already? Not only check the fuses, check for voltage on the fuse circuits. Even if the fuse is good, if there is no voltage, the circuit is still dead. If you were using only a remote start button that connects to the starter solenoid and no starter action, take the starter off and have it tested. Some of the national brand autostores will test it for free. Also, check voltage and ground connections.

Two things to check would be the security light on your dash to see if it's lit telling you there is a problem with the system. If it's not lit it doesn't necessarily mean the security system is working normally.

The second thing to check would be the ignition switch itself. I have heard and seen allot of posts with this being the cause. Hope that helps.
