Turned Off

I started my Van and it idled for a few seconds then turned off, lights everything. Now I can't start it at all. Tried to jump it but nothing I mean nothing would turn on!

Wish I could put in more info, but that's all it did.

Re: Turned Off

First, check your battery for it being dead, like dead meaning replace. Check your battery cable connections at battery, clean the posts, the cable clamps, etc. Next, look at the starter cable connection that comes off the battery to the starter, at the starter.

I've heard that the later Aerostar's have an issue with the battery cable that connects AT the starter comes loose, or corrodes. And, if it does, you lose complete connection from battery to EVERYTHING.

A lesser possibility is that the starter fried, shorting itself out for whatever reason, which would do the same thing, nada electricity to anything.

An even lesser possibility is the starter relay fried.

Have you checked your fuses at the fuse panel? One may have blown.

Best is to try to look at the cable connections, clean them up. If still nothing, I would suggest time for a shop. It gets a bit daunting on the Aerostar's to backyard-mechanic them after a certain point.
