2001 yukon 5.3l spark knock

Help me please..... My yukon has a spark knock under hard accel and it seems to be worse in the summer months. Also seems to lack power. No codes in the system. Has been tuned up with delco parts, fuel filter is new. Not sure what to do now.

Re: 2001 yukon 5.3l spark knock

Knock sensors are tuned to respond to the frequency that spark knock occurs at. If it truly is spark knock, the knock sensors will detect it and the PCM will retard ignition timing until the sensors no longer detect the knock. If the knock continues, it's probably not spark knock. Might be piston slap, very common on the 5.3L, and sounds similar to spark knock.
