Transaxle whinning noise
My parents bought a 2007 or 2008 Taurus from CarMax, but when they are driving they hear a slight whinning noise. CarMax says it is from the transaxle and is common for the Taurus. has any one else ever heard this? I do not know enought about the Taurus transaxles to say, but it is full of fluid.

Re: Transaxle whinning noise
Noises are very difficult to diagnose over the Internet. Based on your description it could also be tires, wheel bearings, or something rubbing.
Does the noise only become audible above a certain vehicle speed, or does it seem to be related to engine speed? Does it change when turning the vehicle? Is it louder with the windows rolled down, or no longer perceivable with the windows down? -Rod |
