![]() I've had my explorer for a few months now and it's been bugging me what this cord is used for. It's right under the radio dash and it's just hanging out, not connected to anything. Thanks. |

Based on the location and that it's just hanging out, I'd guess that it's either for an aftermarket CD changer or for a mobile phone. Are there any screw holes in the console in that area where a mobile phone handset may have been mounted? If you really want to figure it out, you may need to start removing panels and following the wire to its source.

Can that be the cord that links the sound system with the back seat controls for sound? It's built into the center console.
