Wind-deflectors - why are '90 hatch doors different to the '88-'89?

Ok, I contacted 2 companies in the US about deflectors and both have told me that they wont go onto a '90, only an '88-'89 as advertised on their pages. Is this for real? I thought at least the door channels were the same on all 4G hatches

Anyone got any ideas?

its cuz after 89 they started puttin seatbelts in the door. If you look closely enough you can tell the difference cuz 90-91 will have a thick black trim piece to the rear of the door next to the window,88-89 cars dont have this, this makes the 88-89 window a bit wider than 90-91

Oh ok - I forgot that you guys got that. All our Civics had the belts mounted on the "B" piller just before the rear windows and seats. In theory that should mean our doors never changed between 89 and 90. TY

Anyone from UK/NZ/Aust like to confirm this?

Cheers

its true, in the US they put the cheapo wanna be automatic shoulder straps. instead of having the strap move away from you when you open the door, it just stays plugged in to the buckle and when you open the door it half ass gives you room to slip out. personally i think its the only crappy thing about the 4th gen, so i bought an 88

Dual Point Fuel Injection was a crappy thing 4Gs had. But it is easily fixed

Personally, I like the door-mounted seat belts. I don't think they were ever really intended to be buckled at all times (like for getting in and out of the car). I think they just wanted to mount them on the door for some reason. The only problem I ever had with them is that if they didn't retract right, the buckle would get caught in the door when you closed it and scratch up the paint in the door-jamb. But that could also be the case with pillar mounted belts. Either way, if they aren't retracting properly, the dealership will fix them for free, so no biggie.

Seriously, i don't know what they were thinking with the belts on the door. Seriously think about it, the B pillar is a much more lagical place to have a seat belt attached to incase of an accident. The B pillar is much more reinforced than your door is, and the B pillar should always stay attached to the car during a crash, unlike a door, that could have a possibility to come off.

true, imagine what would happen if you got clipped just right in the fender, and it busted the door hinges off, it could very well chop you in three when the door gets pulled backwards.
