Recording Cassettes to my PC
I have some old cassettes I want to burn to CDs. I hooked up my stereo to my computer's line in port, but I got no audio at all. Then i tried the mike in port. I got some music with that, only there was tons of static. I then tried editing it in Nero Wave editor, but nothing worked. Any suggestions of what I can do?

try to see if the line in is not muted or maybe its volume setting is at 0.

Music match sux get a better proggy.
What soundcard you got? If you want quality you have to buy quality. Also you can purchase an input box type of thing where you can remove the pop out of records and static from cassetes. Comes with software etc. Ahhh this is it http://www.pccasegear.com/prod563.htm

i found out all I need is a better sound card. a friend uses Music Match to rip tapes, only he has a better sound card. anyways, thanks for your help guys

Can't believe this was skipped, check the audio wire which u used for the line in, if that audio wire was plugged into the correct port. EIther u have a faulty wire, or a faulty line in port.
You can plug in the line in wire into your mike port, as it all just accepts input anyway. so try that before doshing out on a new soundcard, if possible, try that wire on a working sound card (eg, bring it over to your friend's place and try it out there, if it works, well it cuts it down to the faulty port, n if it doesn't, well, faulty cable.).

I have the same cable as another guy that I know who gets the quality perfect, so that isn't a problem, just the card itself
