Turbo on v6 camaro

I have a 96 camaro with a cold air intake and exhaust, but i have really considered putting a gnx turbo or a garrett turbo on the car. i was wondering if anyone else had ever tried this and what the outcome was, or anyone that knows a little more about my engine could tell me how big of a job i am lining up. any input will be needed!

Wow.. thats a pretty Kustom idea.

Unfortunately I'm no help to you on this idea. Just thought i'd say that thats a pretty unique idea. Should make for one hell of a sleeper.

Hopefully you get to do it. Shouldnt be tooo hard, there are kits for turbo'd F-Bodys with V8s. Dont see why you cant do the same to the V6.

This might help...

I am fluent with all V-6 Web pages, and this is the most one I have heard talked about, Visit this guyus site, and drop hime a line. It is a 3.4L V-6 with a custome turbo kit.

I've seen pics of several GN motors swapped into 4th Gen sixers, and they seem to work out nicely

I personally would not turbo the series II engine. The NA block has a low nickel content, which makes for a weak block. As far as a forced induction block is conserned. Good luck finding a GNX turbo.... most people tend to leave them on there GNX's a GN stock turbo would be your best bet. Plus you would confuse the hell out of your computer. If you want a turbo buick engine bad enough go the bone yard and get a NA 3.8. The only difference in the blocks is a turbo oil return hole. Your local machine shop can do that. Just swap out pistons. But then you will need the computer and coil pack and sensors etc.... I would just go find a TPI engine or maybe an lt1.

You would be luckey if that 2.8 v-6 would hold 7PSI of boost.

The problem with running low boost on a small displacement engine is that you won't get that much of a gain considering the ammount of money your looking at. I mean dropping compression better pistons, rods, crank, plus a turbo and plumbing. Not to mention an intercooler (IMO all turbo engines should be intercooled. Just a safer way to run boost.) Not to mention the weak blocks. Im all about turbo cars espiacally american turbo cars but I would hate to see you throw big money at this car then all of a sudden realize thqat you could of gotten a TPI or LT1 or something like that and go faster for cheaper.
