Schumis Fire

What a reaction to the fire, made me chuckle a little!!

"You have the overalls, you know you can survive for a little while. I didn't feel heavily concerned, honestly. "

I would lose a couple more minutes in the pits - I'd have to change my overalls ...

This one looked a lot worse then it was. It was residuance of fuel left in the tube that caught fire for some reason. Thanks to the protective plate that one guy puts in place to protect the exhaust area and a quick intervention with the big fire hose, they stop it before it could do real damage. Nothinig inside the car started the fire, otherwise it would have been a repeat of Verstappens Benetton on fire in Imola - I guess 1995 it was.

Jos the Boss's inferno was 1994.

as for the fire yesterday, sure it wasnt a huge blaze, but if the nozzle can drip, it's unsafe - period.... and if the guy with with the plate moves outa the way too early, who knows what could have happened.. some of the ferrari engineers scrambled away like a bunch of chickens! Martin Brundle said he would have jumped out of the car, while Michael didnt even flinch.... later at the press conference... "the guys tried to warm me up a bit" :hehehe: he's as far from a natural in front of the camera as it gets, but his efforts make me laugh

Thanks for info about Jos, I was unsure.
And as I said in the other thread, they should get this nozzle story fixed. It's not the frist time and they were very lucky indeed.

I would have got out of the car, give those mechanics a good "burner - slap in the face" saying: don't you mess up my car when I'm winning, jump back in to the car and win it anyhow. That would have been cool...

Well Ferrari has found out what caused the fire during Michaels pitstop last sunday.

Officials at the Maranello-based team say a seal on the fuel hose was damaged during teammate Rubens Barrichello's pit stop which led to the fiery stop by Michael Schumacher moments later. - From TSN.ca

Damn you Rubens, just because you have bad luck doesnt mean you have to pass it on to your teammate .
