What model year and which engine does your Explorer have? There are some common issues specific to the various engines (PCV elbow, intake manifold gaskets, etc). -Rod

Yeah, the PCV valve sometimes does not seat tight in the rubber grommet on the valve cover, or the rubber hose on the PCV is loose. Put a clamp on it. Look for other vacuum leaks in that area by visual inspection.
