Power loss
mm'k my car's being retarded..I'll be in any gear & floor it, and it doesn't have the power it used to have..I won't get that 'pull-back-into-the-seat' feeling until it hits about 2500-3000 rpms..and it does that SOMETIMES..sometimes i'll be up at 4 g's and it still won't really accelerate..I know this could be many things, all pretty much having to do with the fuel system..can't be the clutch, cause the rpms aren't shooting up..ANYWAYS I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem..and what do you think it is, and how sure are you that it's probably that? I really don't want to put my car on a lift, & take the fuel tank out just to look at the fuel filter if I don't have to

Well if your rpms will get up to that amount of g's it may not be the fuel system try looking at you air cleaner, air sensor, that sort of thing. But if there is nothin wrong with any of that then take a look at your injectors or try using some of that fuel injector cleaner that U put into your tank of gas. Thenif it still a problem then check your filter and etc.

You've got a boost leak. Check out vfaq.com. Look under intake, then go to the pressure testing. It could also be bad plugs or wires. You also don't have to drop the fuel tank to check out the fuel filter. It's on the firewall on the passenger side. Get flare wrenches if you intend to change it. I'd also recommend getting a service manual or a haynes book to ork on your car safely. Good luck.

hm boost leak eh? But the only time when it pulls, is when the turbo kicks in..when the turbo's not really spooling, or not spooling that much, that's when it doesn't accelerate fast..still think it's a boost leak?

Does it feel like it's hitting a certain peak when you're driving? Or does it stutter when you go WOT. Other wise it'll be your fuel filter like you were worried about. How clean is your air filter? PCV Valve? Also take off your intake to the turbo & see if your turbine wheel spins freely, if there's any play or slop in the shaft, your turbo is on it's way out.

a certain peak? (BTW, what's WOT?) sometimes when i get to about 2500 rpms, it KIND of stutters..not very much, though..but since it only really pulls when the turbo kicks in, your saying it's probably not a boost leak, right..and the air filter is fine, I didn't check the intake piping or the turbo yet, though..

WOT is wide open throttle.

When I go WOT, it barely accelerates until I get to about 3k rpm...when the turbo kicks in..then it hauls ass.

3000 RPM
I have a 95 GSX and my turbo doesn't ever spool up and boost hard untill i hit damn near exactly 3000 RPM. Then you best make sure your ass in the seat cause its takin you for a ride
. But i think my BOV is leaking boost, not sure really i dont have the knowledge or tools to check, but could get access to them if someone could tell me how to properly set it up. I would appreciate it. I need to go get a boost gauge for my car really damn bad. But the cash flow is low. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated. P.S. where does everyone else spool up?

It's like that on all of them dude..i think it's 2500. That's the rpms where the turbo kicks in. So I'd say it's normal. if you read this post carefully you can see where it tells you to do a leak test

Scobel,
Pull your plugs out & make sure they're not fouled. Also check your wires completely, from the boot to the coil pack. Check for any holes or scorch marks. When you get your plugs, pick up the NGKBRP6ES. Those are the best plugs for the 4g63. I think the gap is .028? Double check in your manual. Rob

No problem. These cars are very finnicky. You're going to have to troubleshoot a bunch of different things to trace down the problem. Don't forget to also pull off the inlet hose to the turbo & check for shaft play. Wiggle it top/bottom side/side. Also check your plugs/wires, & If you can find any DSM people in your area, try to see if someone can give you a hand with a boost leak test. If it's never been tested, I'm sure you've got atleast 5-10 small leaks in places.
