Alright, I could be the worst driver ever....maybe not worst, just dumbest lol. Today goin through my friends neighborhood in the rain i decide to try doin a "drift" (by drift i mean swing around the back end) for the first time. First off, dont make ur first time doin this in the rain. Second, if ur gonna do it, do it right lol. So i come up to the turn in 3rd gear goin like 20-25 then i cut the wheel and punch the gas, but the car just goes straight so i slam the brakes but its wet so my car slides down a ditch and ramps up the over side into some guys lawn. The best part was my two friends were behind me and saw the whole thing. I have my friend push and throw it in reverse and get out the ditch. Then i go tell the guy wat happened (he was cool about it, i acted like i was about to cry, when in fact i was tryin not to laugh). Get my car to my friends house at look at the damage....luckily all that happened was my lip rip off most the way, so i yank it all off. Stupid idea, wont do it again soon, i'm just hella lucky i didnt have my kit on. Someone up there must love me......and i think its LadyNRedSi :right:

dude, the main thing you did wrong was punch it. FWDs understeer, therefore you punch the gas, you will just keep going pretty much straight, especially in the rain. the brake thing, im sure you understand why that happened, but its a natural reaction. If you want to try and drift a FWD, learn how to left foot brake. Warning, when you first try this, just do it going straight and in a nice big parking lot, because you will most likely just slam on the brakes. I wish I knew the addy for the site that explained exactly what left foot braking is, but I don't have it anywhere, maybe someone else can find it for you.

Funny story though.

on my way home from the OR meet, it was raining in Tulsa, and one of the ramp i got off on was a big turn on a bridge. I figured it was a little slippery so I slightly threw it into the turn, just expecting a little slide that didn't last long. Thing went almost completely sideways through the whole turn and never crossed a line. Kinda shocked me, I was also half asleep at the time so I was sort of like "wow, i just went sideways and stayed in the lane, cool" I never touched the gas though, until i wanted to pull out of the slide.

I apologize on behalf of all us . I look at it this way, i probly wont slide into a ditch again, just like i probly wont hit a fire hydrant, jersery wall on a bridge, or the back of a del sol ever again.....hopefully, so really its just good experience.

well a lot of people are accustomed to using their left foot for the clutch and their right for gas/brake. but since you already are used to using your left foor as a brake, then your half way there, well i dunno if that would be half way or not, the rest is learning how to use it to drift and technique.

oh i know you just didnt. There have been discussions on this before, try using the search feature, im sure you will be glad to find out that you can "drift" a FWD. Its a little bit harder than a RWD, because you cannot use your back wheels to spin you around, its more of a inertia drift than a RWD.

little FYI for everyone- real drifters use their ebrake to make small adjustments in their angle on a drift. I don't know how many actually use this, but I have heard it being done before by big drift teams.

Lol, i tried that a few days ago at the same turn....here's wat i did wrong there:


1) Was tryin to ebrake the turn at like 30-35 mph, holy shit way too fast

2) I cut the wheel way too hard

3) I have little to no drivin ability


I ended pullin a 180 in the middle of the road, it was badass, only cuz i knew i wasnt gonna hit nothin
