A new Camaro will indeed be out as early as 2004 - this was known by some people before the 4th Gen were even disco'd. They needed to put the F-bodies on hiatus for a year or two and come back with an all new platform and design - in addition, they also wanted to get the plant out of St.Theresse, Quebec.
New Camaro definitely on the way. New Firechicken/Tranny? I hear that the upcoming GTO will replace those models - but not forever. |

And speaker of GTO, there is an LS1-derived V8 car in Australia from GM right now that apparently is what the new North American GTO is going to be based on. Looks like a cross between a Grand Prix and a Sunfire if you ask me. I'm positive its RWD.

Too many people can't let it go, the F-body is gone and even if they do decide to bring it back it will probably at least 5 years from now. Give it a rest all these concept pictures are bullshit.
If they ever did bring the Camaro back it would be just like it always has been. You really think Chevrolet going to make it fwd? They considered that back in the 80s when designing the third generation, it didn't happen. They know what will sell and it will be like this: standard V6 model, Z28 V8 version, and SS V8 version. I would also expect a newer Camaro to be shorter in the front like the 60's models as well. They got lots of complaints about how long the front ends were from people to magazines. Most likely they will take the hint and change that, mainly because that effected sales.

i agree. the blue one does look nice and i thank GM if they would make that one because it has chrome! its not some painted P.O.S. like some of the newer ones were. dont get me wrong, i still love the newer camaros like mine, i just wish they had chrome.

If you go to GMInsiders.com there was an article about the next generation. Nothing has been set for the 5th gen, but Lutz basicly said the camaro is commming back. He said they are working on a new RWD V8 platform, hmmm what could it be. All the drawing you see are artist rendentions of what they (the artist) think the next gen will look like.
If you want the real scoop on the next generation. Read message boards like LS1.com, camaroz28.com, or LS1tech.com, and wait for Scott Settlemire, the "FBODFATHER" to post. Then you'll know the truth. |

Folks:
I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but there are no current plans for a new Camaro, and definitely not a new Firebird. The Camaro will, most likely, come back. The earliest it could possibly return would be 2007 or 2008, but there are no plans yet. Those pictures in magazines....all guess work. There is no Camaro program. It definitely will not be out in 2004 or 2005. Sorry. |

The Holden Monaro is what the new GTO is based off of, not vice versa. The Monaro has been around for a while now, would not hesitate at owning one myself...
