4.0 oversize intake headers?

Has anyone made oversized intake headers for the 4.0 SOHC engine used in the 2002 Ranger? The pipe dope i used to seal the throttle body to the intake header after working on the t'stat gives me the idea this engine can do a lot more with a bigger air in pipe, since the airflow past the throttle has atomized the dope and drawn wispy streamers inside the header.

I do it to make sure I have a good seal on components I may have to remove later, where I don't want silicone. I found this air paturn while fixing a thermostat box leak, and the throttle body has to go for that
