Cool Merc !

Wondered if anyone else has done a street version (might leave out the roll cage) of one of the Mercedes CLK DTM's and if so could i see a picture. Might seem a shame to some of you to do this but im into street cars more than anything else, shame they dont send optional seats & dash Etc with kits for just this.
Love all the opel street versions iv'e seen here recently, gonna start mine in the very near future.

Later, Mike.:smoker2:

I haven't seen the DTm's de-stickered yep, I also do think that making a car race-spec, just for road usage is a bit stupid but hey, who cares, it's only modeling

Oh, and just another thing, when looking for reference material to make the street Opel ; which real name is "Opel Astra OPC -extreme concept car" -yes ! it does exists in real life- you should try to search on this name.

Anyway, good luck, olivier

I agree that models are scale representations, however, I personally do not like having the race trim inside a 'street' car. It makes it look like a unliveried test car instead.

Mike, have you tried scratch building/customizing the interior to make it look more like a street going car? It's my first attempt at it, I'm converting the Tamiya Ford Escort WRC into a street version.

I'm trying to make the interior as close the the road car as possible. I've been working on the body simultaneously. So far it has a bodykit from the 1998 version Escort WRC with wing. I'm in the process of adding a bonnet scoop from the SAS Integra hood. As far as the interior goes, I have stripped out the seat supports and have built up the floor. The next stage would be to add black velour/carpeted floor, seats (including the rear seats) from the Tamiya road Evo VI.

Colour will be Pearl Aubergine.

Well......... guess i'll have to admit just why im so desperate to build that street version. Im a lover of both Japanese and German cars. I love Audi, but Tamiya just wont seem to give us a decent modern Audi to make, so i guess a nice Merc would be a (for me) good alternative and for those of you who've seen the radio controlled team vodafone AMG mercedes you should know what i mean.

I've got 80% done on the street Opel, but I won't post any photo yet.
And I'm also thinking about converting the CLK DTM to street CLK, and I bought Fujimi's 300CE for the chassis, tires, interior tub and seats.
CLK - AMG might be easier, since Fujimi has 18 in wheel, but I haven't decided yet.

yeah im building a street version, the bigest problem was building an interior, its taken a lot of scratch building which can become boring so ill let it rest for a while and go back to it later, i always find that when you do a lot of mods dont not to try to do the whole project at once work on another kit at the same time, no roll cage

I have a question, I've NEVER heard someone call a MB a "merc." When I refer to my car or when i'm talking about a Mercedes Benz I just call it a "Mercedes" or a "Benz". I've heard people use both but never a merc, not even written. Its either MB, Mercedes or Benz. Merc ???

Just a question

I guess it comes from the UK where they call an MB a Merc and I guess the rest of us here in Europe names it like that as well. Besides a Merc sounds better then a Benz right? Especially when it's a big fast one like yours

Although when I would own one, I'd probably wouldn't call it my Merc by my Mercedes just like you. Confusing he

that is the presentation version of the race CLK-DTM so not a road version. It's the race car without sponsoring. They use this one for presentation purposes in bootspaces etc.
