upping the top speed?

i hear of the 120mph speed limiter and it makes me cringe, is this in the computer or the transmission that limits you? how could it be resolved? im thinking of picking up an s14, and either dropping an sr20det in, or turboing the stock ka. either way if im gonna make myself a car to go id rather it didnt stop at 120mph.

Someone I know (I fail to call him a friend, because he is not... HE OWNS A CIVIC WITH RACING STRIPES AND TVS IN HIS 2-DOOR HEADRESTS!!!) broke his governor by driving down a steep hill at max speed... Don't know if that sounds very... Safe... or good for the car... lol

dude 240's suck. id say go with a civic or something more reliable. you dont know if the SR you get from japan is gonna be broken or not. the transmission in the SR actually limits you to about 93 mph, and there is absolutley no way to change that. the 120mph speedo is just for looks. plus, the stock ka is even slower.

definitely not the car for you.

damn this board is really full of haters. i made my first 2 posts today, long time troller. both got jumped on. thank you to ppl who give honest results, but shit thats kinda rediculous. i may have started out with a prelude, but the honda community was atleast trying to be helpful. were all still after the same goal, were all import car tuning enthusiasts. not all hondas are rice. did you guys establish this board to pick on people who dont have the same car? we all had to start somewhere, remember that.

We're not haters, we just joke around. I used to take everyone seriously and got pissed off everytime I came on here, but you just have to realise everyones just kidding around with you...

ok ok. we ARE all joking, as dayna said. well im half joking. i, just as much as any other legit 240 enthusiast, dont wanna see the car turn into what hondas have. i know that not every honda is a ricer...but most of them are, and we dont want to see that happen to the 240. and there are much more protective people than me about it, so try not to sound like an idiot around them (not that you do.) and if anything sounds too mean or fucked up to be serious, it probably is. 240 enthusiasts are truly like no other crowd out there, and i learned that through many flames. defintiley not your honda "tuner" crowd.

speed limiter on the manual is 115, not 120. the only way you can remove the governor is with an ecu upgrade. something like http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/

or do an auto swap (HAHA i'll hear it from you guys for suggesting this... lol). i've had mine up to an estimated 125, and thats with bulky tires so i coulda easily been hitting 130.

If you want a highway car, the Z is a better and more stable highway car.. just incase you were wondering. I say this because the Z is wider, weighs more, and overall is more sturdy.. all good for highway racing.

But to answer your question, its the 5th gear sensor OR the speed sensor.. I cannot remember, but its ECU controlled. You can modify the KA ECU or if you go SR, I dont think you'll need to worry about that.

Now you didnt say anything stupid, so I have no reason to rip on you. But, dont be so quick to say "drop sr" or "turbo ka." You'll be amazed at how much you can learn with the 240SX, as a driver. After 7 years of upgrading brakes, suspension, interior, and minor engine upgrades.. I am still with my SOHC KA. It may not be the fastest/most powerful motor, but its responsive, reliable, and good enough to LEARN on.

Afterall, there's no point in having modifications, let alone a POWERFUL motor when you yourself dont know how to control it. The 240SX owners I know, tend to be quite serious about "driving skill." The only other community that I know that is DEEPER than us, is the Corolla and/or Miata community. Those guys KNOW their cars, their limits, and simply know how to drive.

you just said something very true. this is my first car and im def learning so many things about cars because of it.

Yo ju fuck heads, me ave a program to reprogram ECU's, me can custom make it fer speed limita removal, it works fer real fasy, me ave 2 in me auto, just incase teh fuzzy muff trys to stop me wif me sensi in da back. me will sell at $400 a pop. pm me fer detials
