Loud air conditioning
1996 3.1 ac is very loud(sound like a weak grinding noise). Typically, it was worse on fan speed 1-3, so I had to keep it maxed out. I now get it on 4 as well but it is intermittent and seems the worse at idle. If there is junk in the fan is there a step by step on removing it?

when mine did that i had to pull the fan motor and use a shop vac with long extension to clear it out and that solved the issue for me |

Loud air conditioning
I'm told the alternator has to come off first. I have a 1996 with the v6 is this the case?

Re: Loud air conditioning
that is the 3100SFI engine, the alternator is close and doesn't leave much room but it is pretty easy to take out just be sure to disconnect the negative wire from battery.

Re: Loud air conditioning
i should also mention that though the job is a P I T A you will get a lot better air flow once it is done and should only be a one time deal
