2001 Intermittent start

Guys, here's my problem. Every day at 5 PM, the car starts without a problem. at 8 AM, sometimes it starts on the first turn, the other times when i turn the key 2-3 times, nothing happens. All the lights are on, fuel pump is humming but the engine does not crank. Sometimes on the 3rd-4th try it starts, sometimes the car has to sit 5-10 minutes and then it starts fine. The battery is outputting 12.5V.
What could it be - the starter?

Yes, could be, you need to see if you have 12v to the solenoid when it won't crank. BTW, worked at Cadillac on Kings Hwy and Utica for 15 years.

maxwedge, thanks. Can you edumacate me a little more on where the salenoid is and how to measure it's voltage. I would assume there're +/- wires, that I can use my voltmeter on?
