Over-torqued bolt what to do?

Hey guys,

When installing my water pump I over-torqued one of the bolts thanks to a faulty torque wrench and ended up shearing off the bolt head. It's not a big deal right now because the pump is working properly with no leaks. However, if and when I need to replace the pump, how do I go about removing the bolt shank?

Thanks,

Alex

since this is just a bolt that broke due to over torquing here in this application and the threads are not damaged stud not bottomed out , you should have no problem removing with a 1/4 inch REVERSE drill bit. then as the bit cuts into the stud the bolt will unscrew.

Which bolt? If it's one of the four longer bolts mounting th epump to the block you should be able to remove the remaining three, slide off the pump, and remove the broken one with a good pair of pliers (notice I didn't suggest Vise-Grips, but a GOOD pair of pliers).
