Anyone autocross?
Does anyone who owns a P10 do any racing? I do some autocrossing with my other car, and I was wondering what experiences people have had racing these cars. Mine seems to handle and brake pretty well, but I haven't actually gotten it on a course yet. Anyone done it?

Our Oregon Region SCCA and Oregon Rally Group, www.oregonrally.com , have RallyCrosses several times a year. I've participated in these since the "creation" of this hybrid sport in 1998.
It's basically an autocross event on a slick grass field, designed to simulate car control on loose surface rallies. It's not nearly as brutal on the car as you might suspect - I've only raced in one event that was "rough" (that venue is now gone). As a navigator in regular performance rallies, I've seen too much nasty, car-breaking terrain on local logging roads.. As to your question, the G20 is an excellent, stable handler. It's not as nimble as the A2 GTI I had used until last year, but on a fast, open course it's a joy to throw into lurid, 4-wheel drifts! Those BTCC racers in Primeras from the last decade proved how good the basics are on both the P10 & P11, huh?. -Don |

On a tighter course I found the G20 hard to rotate. But on a more 'flowing' course it is a ball.

I've noticed that on a lot of front-drive cars. I've watched many people go into tight turns and g-load the front of the car, rotating it 180 degrees on the engine. It's usually in hondas, but I could see this car being prone to that as well. Still, I think it would be a fun car to run the course in, assuming I don't find myself suddenly facing the wrong direction in the middle of a turn.

I have yet to see any front wheeler spin out on the auto-x course. The speeds are just too low. I've seen a bunch of miada's and 'vetts spin though.

The worst one I've seen was a turbocharged integra GSR. He did it 3 times at one event. He had a new suspension setup that he was trying to get used to. Finally got it right on the 4th try...

I auto x my p10 this year for the first time...
I loved it ... My suspension was to soft at the time. But now i beef up the suspension with coil overs system. I can not wait for another event in NJ ... My feeling is use what you have. and enjoy,. |
