2000 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Location

Can someone help me out. I have a po113 (if i remember correct) which is the ambient air temp sensor. I bought it but just cant seem to locate it. I checked all around the air filter housing but nothing. Then a mechanic told me that it is usually located in the front where the condensor is. Bingo, ambient air sensor, makes sense. Took off the grill and there was a sensor there. I took off the alligator clip but doesnt fit on the new sensor that i bought from autozone. so figuring that that is the right sensor location i went back to autozone and had them double check the part number along with the pics that their system shows, and that seems to be the part. I even checked the year before and after to see if maybe that would have figured the problem but those two didnt have a sensor, only the 2000 model.
so my question is, can someone help me out? I have checked the haynes manual and searched online but cant find much.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: 2000 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Location

Hi. Not an expert by any means, but your code refers to a problem with the IAT (Intake Air Temperature sensor). If you purchased and Ambient Air Temperature Sensor, then I think you got the wrong item. The Ambient ATS is used to display the outside air temperature. The IAT is used to measure the temperature at the intake and is taken into account for fuel adjustment and other operating conditions.

Double check that you have an IAT and not an Ambient ATS.
