Question fuel line check

If I remove fuel line going into fuel filter and try to start engine should the fuel PUMP squit gas out of the line.
Gas not making it to engine and I'm trying to find out if it's the filter or pump.
Thank you for any help.

Re: fuel line check

A filter will not cause a car to not start. A plugged filter will cause a fuel pump to prematurely fail.

Re: fuel line check

Airjer,
Thanks for the info. That takes care of the filter.
Now if I disconect the line before the filter and crank the engine over shouldn't the fuel pump shoot gas out of the line? I hope this will tell me if the pump is good or bad. Hate to pay $250.00 for a pump if it's not needed.

Re: fuel line check

They only way to measure pressure is with a fuel pressure gauge.
