Viper SRT10 ACR

Well, I've not posted anything here for quite a while, so here will be my first WIP in a long time.

Just picked up the new Revell ACR Viper. All in all the kit looks really good. I've not picked up any Revell kits in the last 2 yrs or so, so I'm not sure how their resent efforts have been but this kit looks pretty damn good.

I'm very impressed with the packaging right off the bat. There are many smaller bags with smaller parts trees in them rather then the huge bag with everything stuffed inside. Even the glass has its own bag, which is the way it should be. I believe this is the first time I've seen Revell do this with a kit, may not be, but I don't remember them doing it on anything else I've ever bought. And the bags are sorted as well which is nice, interior in one bag, engine in another, body parts in two others, chrome in another etc.

I've not opened any of the small bags yet but the flash I did see on the main shell of the body was minimal and mold lines don't look bad either. Everything is molded in white with the exception of the chrome tree and amber taillights. My only issue so far with the kit is the rims, which are suppose to be black are in chrome, not a big deal but they should of been white since the are painted on the ACR.

Decals look good too. They aren't Cartograf but the quality looks good.

All in all should be a fun build. And since the humidity is finally taking a break I'm gonna start on this thing tonight.

David.

Re: Viper SRT10 ACR

It's good to see the trees all in different bags, one AMT model I bought had all the parts in one bag and the box must have had some heat, because a wheel had melted onto the body, I think it was the 427 Cobra!

Wicked! What color are you going to paint it?

IMHO, if anyone watches "Battle of the Supercars" on Speed TV, they should have included this car against the Corvette ZR-1. Instead they stuck it with a regular SRT-10.

Originally I was going to go with black, but after seeing one of the ACR-X models I'm going to do a street version of the X model. I like the race version so much I will most likely build another one of these vipers and do a X version to go with the street model. Here's a shot of what I'm aiming towards, tho it won't look exactly like this.

I've been working on it, and will post a few pics tomorrow, the car is in primer now and I've got most of the engine done along with some of the interior.

Re: Viper SRT10 ACR

More done..... still lots to go. A few comments on the kit so far. Everything has gone together well. But there are a few more things that need to be improved, minor, but none the less. First, the ride height seems high to me, especially in the front, not so much the ground clearance the but the space between the top of the tire and the wheel arch. Second, there is no locator holes or etchings for the rear wing, its left for you to align and fix to the rear hatch. Not a big deal, but for a skill lvl 2 kit, some younger builders will find it more difficult to locate it correctly. Anyways, some pics, by no means is anything 100% done yet, no decals are done and lots of detail painting left to do.

Interior pieces...

Wheels...

Motor in the car (forgot to snap one before test fitting)..

Mock up of the car. Note in the second shot you can see the ride height somewhat..

That's all for now. Comments and criticisms welcome.

Re: Viper SRT10 ACR

The ride height was one of the first things that I noticed about the Revell box art. It looks like it's ready to go rallying!
