2001 Grand Am high idle 1200 Rpm
My 2001 Grand Am 2.4 4cyl has a very high idle problem 1200 RPM.
I found the vacuum hose to the MAP sensor damaged. I have replaced the hose but the RPM does not seem to back down to normal. I have checked the IAC valve, cleaned throttle body and fixed vacuum leaks to MAP sensor. Please tell me what can I do now? Thanks. Jay |

Re: 2001 Grand Am high idle 1200 Rpm
I would double check for vacuum leaks, and test the MAP sensor.
If that checks out ok, might test the IAC ...you didnt push or turn the pointed end did you ? ![]() Hope that helps!

I would do the test procedure first if you havent already, and if it is broke you will know.
And it might not hurt to pull it out and make sure its set correctly @ 1 1/8" which is explained on the page for the IAC R&R. Also they are not cheap, around $65

Re: 2001 Grand Am high idle 1200 Rpm
Xeroinfinity.....All tested well as you said however all tested okay and the RPM still remained high. Now I know how to test all the other components.
Finally I removed the PCM and sprayed some white grease on the connection terminals. Then I installed the PCM back...this made a difference. The RPM's are back to 750. Thanks for all your help. |
