OBD code p0442

I have a 2003 Chevey Tahoe Today my check engine light came on. It is a code P0442 EVAP Emission Control System Leak (small)

Any one else have this come up & if so how did you fix it?

just as you stated small leak ...the computer on start up by controlling valves , creates a tank pressure and vacuum condition ..when it senses no pressure or no vacuum when expected you get a dtc..since its the 0442 this means a small minor leak.

to find small leaks is not easy. usually a bad worn cap cheap fix. new owner of this ? could be wrong cap...you constantly fill tank to the max and park vehicle? charcoal cannister or the venting valves..

then is the rust belt may mean your fuel filler hose is rusted out 200.oo for that !

post back what messed up your ride ..

Thanks for the quick responce. I the the orignal owner but I did change the gas cap 4 years ago with an after market key lock type gas cap I will replave the cap with a OEM cap & see if the light comes back on

Update.

It has been a few days since I replaced the gas gap & the check engine light has not come back on...Thanks to every one who helped.
