Eric, Redline Heavy Shock Proof oil can look similar in colour to what you have drained out, particularly if it has some grease mixed in with it. The oil may well have some grease mixed through it as well if you have an axle seal that has been leaking. This will discolour and change the colour of the oil.

I have not worried at all about the condition of my axle seals and actually promote having some oil out at the hubs by retopping the diff oil level after the first 10 - 20 laps post an oil change. I have inspected the hub bearings after each 6 hour and they have been fine. My last race car had floater hubs on and these relied solely on oil for lubrication, hence why I have not been so concerned abiut the oil and grease mixing at the hubs.

Kel.

Re: Rear Diff seal project couple of questions...

For the folks with the triple rear axle seals.... What did you torque the allen bolts too that hold the seals together? when I took mine out this time all the bolts were pretty loose.(and i just swapped them out a few months ago...)

Also, longer rear lug bolts anyone?
