can you hear your compresser?

Maybe I'm just driving myself nuts, but does anyone else hear a slight whine from their a/c compresser when the clutch is engaged? I replaced the tensioner/ pulley combination, and the idler pulley, and belt, I still hear it, maybe its normal, Its been so long since I've had ac, I cant recall.

Re: can you hear your compresser?

I wouldn't say its normal but yes, on my 96 I hear it all the time engaged or not. Gets much more intense when engaged. I've been living with it for 5 years or so. Other than that the A/C works fine.
