Re: Slow connection when rainy season

You didn't say what kind of connection you have.

If it's a wire (DSL, cable, etc) the cable could have a leak or a grounding problem that's causing the signal to degrade.

If it's cable, maybe a lot of people on your local network are online - which slows it down for all.

If it's wireless, like through your cell service, then the rain could be interfering with signal strength, resulting in more tests being done by the system.

If you have cable or DSL, call your company to come out and check the lines outside the house, and make sure to tell them you lose a lot of speed when it rains. They should do so for free.

I've worked as a technician for both cable and phone, post back and let us know what happens.

Hi fredjacksonsan, I'm sorry if i didn't mention my connection. anyway I have a wifi/wireless connection with a speed of 1mbps. You're right with what you've said about wireless. Now i know that is the reason why it gets too slow. Thanks for you advice i will call my network provider immediately. Appreciate it.

lol I think fred-san is referring to a broadband wireless connection, not wifi. I don't think rain/clouds could affect the wireless signal inside your house!

How is your modem/router connected to the internet? Cable? DSL? Satellite?

Have the phone company check/test your DSL line.
