96 dodge 1500 4x4 5.9 Problems with accelerating/moving

My friend has a its a 96 dodge 1500 4x4 5.9 Ram, and he says that he has had a problem a few months back on it when he puts it into gear and tries to give it gas to move. We were on the internet talking and he asked that i post this for him since he knows not how to use this site. This is what he said "it will still drive but barely u have to feather the gas to get it to go but any more than that it slips." He said that he checked the fluid to see if its burnt, he said he didnt smell anything, and he did say he checked the fluid and it was a little low, so he added some fluid to it after he had this problem. Any help would be appreciated by him, or any advice to where to start looking. Thanks.

KansasZj09, you didn't say how many miles are on your friend's truck. Did the neutral for 15 sec work?

Looks like a fluid & filter change next.

Yup; I had a friend that had similar issues and changing the fluid helped. If that doesn't improve things it's probably rebuild time.
